In addition to face-to-face consulations, I also offer the following services:
Counselling by Telephone & Videophone
This is available to people in Australia. It is not necessary for an initial face-to-face meeting.
Psychotherapy by Telephone
Because of its more intensive nature, psychotherapy is offered by telephone only to clients who have visited Dr O'Keefe at the clinic at least once for a face-to-face consultation. This is available only to people residing in Australia.
Psychotherapy by Videophone
This is available to people living in Australia. It is not necessary for an initial face-to-face meeting.
Please note that clinical hypnotherapy is not practised or available by telephone or videophone.
Sex, Gender & Sexuality Consultations by Telephone & Videophone
Consultations by telephone & videophone are available internationally to people living outside Australia. Please note that this service is NOT counselling or psychotherapy. Dr O'Keefe is acting as a consultant, not as a clinician. Clients must see their own clinicians and therapists. Dr O'Keefe offers her expertise as a specialist in this field.
All videophone consultations must be booked at least 7 days in advance and full payment by credit card must also be made 7 days before the appointment. For the initial booking, you are required to pay for the very first two-hour session and also for the next session which lasts one hour in advance which makes three hours. Each session, you pay for one hour in advance if it is a one-hour session or two hours if it is a two-hour couples session. On the last consultation, you will be one hour in credit which will be credited to your bill on that day. Upon booking your telephone or videophone consultation, you will be given a standard hourly rate which will be applicable to everyone as well as the time of your appointment.
All videophone consultations must be booked at least 7 days in advance and full payment by credit card must also be made at this time. No refund is available for cancellations made after 7 days before the scheduled appointment (Australia Sydney time). The strategics involved with setting up video conferencing are sometimes complex and we need to arrange our schedules well in advance, both for the convenience of the clinician and client.
It is advisable to book telephone consultations as far in advance as you can, but because the set-up is less complicated than videophone consultations, we are more flexible. However, bookings must be paid for with a credit card at the time of booking. If you need to change or cancel your appointment you will need to make those alterations at least 48 BUSINESS hours in advance (Mon-Fri 9am-5.00pm Australia Sydney time). So if your appointment is on a Monday, you will need to cancel it on the Thursday before during business hours. If it is on a Tuesday, you will need to cancel the Friday before during business hours and so on. Changes or cancellations made less than 48 business hours in advance will incur the charge of the full rate for that session. This also applies to missed appointments. Clients pay for the telephone or videophone call at the prearranged time.No refund is available for cancellations made after 7 days before the scheduled appointment. We currently use an ISDN videophone compliant with the H320 Standard. You can access us from any matching system or an H320 video conferencing facility. If you have another system you will need to arrange for a bridging house facility in advance for the call. Clients pay for the videophone call at the prearranged time and for any video conferencing or bridging house facilities.
How to Access Videophone Facilities
Videophone is now a common way of communicating, both in the business and healthcare sectors. You can visit a videophone facility at one of your local business centres which offers video conferencing and you will probably be given a private room from which to make your videophone call, booked at a scheduled time.
Many universities also have video conferencing facilities and some do hire them out to interested parties, so it may be worth asking your local university.
Videophone by telephone lines, broadband cable or ADSL/DSL is also available to set up from your home and the equipment can be acquired from various internet sites as well as local dealers. Some examples are shown below - click on the company's name to be taken to their website; however, please note that these are merely suggestions for people to look at the various options and we are not recommending any one system - it is up to you to investigate and find the best solution for you. We do suggest though that your videophone is able to deliver at a minimum of 20 to 30 frames per second as anything slower than this is usually poor quality and results in too much time delay, making consultation impossible.
